Welcome...
Our goal is to produce cattle with the carcass quality of Angus and the feeding efficiency, foraging ability and docility of the Hereford Breed. We believe that Black Herefords, even though a new hybrid breed developed by crossing Angus and Hereford cattle with a minimum of 5/8 Hereford blood, provide genetics that are most adapted for Angus carcass programs, as well as, grass fed programs that require the homozygous black factor to consistently produce Black-Baldie offspring. Iron Lake Ranch is a Lifetime Member of the American Black Hereford Association.Black Hereford History...The American Black Hereford Association was established as a non-profit corporation in 1994. The first Black Herefords to qualify for registration were recorded in 1997. In 2003, Black Herefords received international breed designation by the National Association of Animal Breeds. In 2005, the breed implemented its own EPDs. read more Ranch News...
